I was looking for an inexpensive scale for very occasional use and this item fits the bill. I have found that I have to reset zero between weighing items way more than I should. It's basic plastic construction and so so accurate. If you are a regularly weighing ingredients or want something better looking don't buy this model.

Because of the design of the product, it is practically impossible to replace the battery meaning you'll have to buy an entirely new device once it runs out. Waste of money and bad for the environment.

Sending mine back as it only weighs ounces and grams. My other scales also did mils and fluid ounces which I tend to use quite a lot. The g and oz letters on the screen are very small and not easily visible as they are partially hidden by the frame of the screen. The scales itself and the buttons feel flimsy. All in all a big disappointment and not the quality I expected from Salter.

I thought that these would be good an reliable because salter is a big name, but they are really not fit for what they are designed for.

Firstly, they are inaccurate. Sometimes the reading is higher and then suddenly much lower, with no human intervention. E.g. pouring flour and it says 43g then drops to 35g.

Secondly, they reset to 0 sometimes when the weight drastically changes, even when I don't want it to reset. An example is when I put a jam jar on the scales, take the jar off and scoop a spoonful of jam out, wanting to know how much jam I'm using... but the scales reset to 0 ff their own accord once I take the jar off. If I don't press the reset to 0 button, I DONT WANT IT TO RESET! not a hard concept.

These reasons were already bad enough to make the scales useless but I found that keeping the bowl/container on the scales and weighing twice prevented these issues... then I found shifting a bowl slightly left or right leads to a different reading.

So, basically, they are not fit for purpose. I had £3.99 unfolding scales from a famous German owned supermarket that lasted 5+ years until I had to replace them with these and I'm very disappointed by the difference.

I gave these a while before reviewing after reading some other reviews about inaccuracy but I have not found this to be the case at all, I often use these scales not only for baking but also for pre-weighing parcels for posting and they have not been wrong so far.
Easy to use, simple on/off switch, easy to change measurements between g/kg and lbs/oz. Easy to read display. Very happy, would buy again.

These are very accurate scales and I bought them to replace my other Salter scales which broke after only a short time.

These are good but they don't do 'minus weights'. For example; You have a tub of Philadelphia cheese. You put the tub on the scales and zero them. You then scrape out some of the Philadelphia to have on your crackers. My old scales used to do a 'minus' weight, so I would have -35g so I knew how much I'd had (35g). These scales don't do that... it won't allow you to have a minus weight and just comes up with ----

If you zero these scales and then remove a quantity from them the display shows a row of dashes rather than the weight of what was removed as a negative value. I previously owned a set of Salter 1036 ‘Disc’ kitchen scales that would do this and I found it really useful. For example, measuring how much butter i was putting in a hot pan. So I’m a bit disappointed these scales won’t do it.
In terms of build quality, these scales seem very lightweight compared to the Disc scales and are not as nice to handle or use. I’d definitely recommend spending the bit extra on the Discscales over these Arc scales.

This was a slightly unromantic wedding anniversary present to my wife (but more useful than flowers and she didn't want more chocolates), but a surprise after she admired my son's similar scales when we visited him a few days before. My wife does most of the baking so I've not used it yet, but she thinks it's great as it's very convenient and easier to use than the old traditional ones we had.

Bought these to replace a different set of scales from the same Brand. Wish I had stuck with original. These are awful, they often stop weighing while I am adding products- 2 lines appear on the scales and I have to start again. They don't work where you weight something, pour some out then put back on ... it forgets what it weighed before you took it off seconds before. Overall a rubbish set of scales, don't waste your money

I bought this model to replace an old Salter scale that I'd had for a years and been very happy with, but had managed to drop and break! This one is smaller than the older model and felt cheap and plasticky. It also doesn't measure liquids, just grammes or ounces. I'd assumed it would be at least equivalent to my much older model, but clearly I should have double-checked. The platform is too small to use with large bowls or pans, and impossible to use with a preserving pan, as I found recently. Even with a standard mixing bowl, the display is very hard to read: you have to get the light just right as the bowl shades the display. The final straw was when I came to replace the battery recently: impossilbe to open the screw on the battery cover, even with a very tiny screwdriver and it's certainly not worth buying a dedicated screwdriver for a sub-standard product. Have complained to the manufacturer and will not be buying Salter again in a hurry.
